Okay, so I got pretty far today! I got the clip all welded in, and some of the little filler pieces of metal welded in place. I’m pretty close to being ready to weld in the frame boxing plates. I didn’t run into any problems, other than not having cleaned up the clip or the frame in a few places where I needed to weld. Next time I’ll know better!
On the topic of frame boxing plates, I made some cardboard templates, and took them to my uncle’s house, where he was kind enough to cut them out using his plasma cutter. Wow, what a life saver! Tuck had offered too, but there were some problems with his plasma cutter, long story… thanks Tuck, I’ll probably take you up on your offer when it comes time to do the C-notch in the rear!
Anyways, I think it’s coming along good… I’m pretty tickled that it’s going as well as it is. I figure not including the disassembly, I probably have about ten hours into it so far.
I had to include a photo of the welder I’m using to do this. It’s my paternal Grandfather’s, and is about three years older than my truck! I thought it was pretty cool… talk about “traditional” build methods! Haha!
