Volare clip, step 2

I’ve been working on cleaning up the Volare clip, preparing it to be installed on the truck, the last few days. I’ve gotten the motor mounts cut off, and the rear mounting ‘ears’ cut off. I’ve also re-welded the exposed joints that these cuts made, and added a couple of triangle gussets to strengthen the clip.

Here’s a short video that shows what I’ve been doing, and some more photos:

This photo shows the marks I made for cutting the frame. In the No-Limit video, he makes his line up 1/4″ from the bottom of the frame at the axle centerline, then runs a level line forward. Well, I want this thing as low as possible, so I decided to make my line up 1-3/8″. However, Michelle suggested that the Volare clip may not be flat, so I am going to do some more measuring tonite, before making the cut in the frame.

This next photos show the clip cleaned up a bit, and the two triangle gussets under the upper a-arm mounts welded in, along with the welded seam near the steering box mount.
