I’ve been getting frustrated with the complexity of the company we use to monitor our website performance, and have decided that I can do it better, by doing it more simply, and for less money. I’ve been working on it for about a month now, programming, testing, deciding on what is necessary, and what is fluff, etc. I’m planning on launching with a free demo, allowing for monitoring on one url every 10 minutes or so. Then having plans ranging from around $10-$100 per month, depending on the number of URLs, etc. I may leave a free service, but that is yet to be determined, primarily based on the cost of data storage.
The guys I’ll be competing against would be alertsite and keynote, along with many others. My plan is to keep it simple and affordable, one thing that these guys seem to not understand.
I came up with the name “Fast Edison” a while back… fast, because our current monitoring company is excruciatingly slow, and edison, because it will be a simple, smart and effective tool, just as Thomas Edison invented simple, smart and effective devices. To me it evokes a sort of old-is-new feeling. Hopefully the
